HARVESTING GUIDE
A Manzana clipper is built to protect the fruit as much as to cut it. A short routine of care keeps every blade clean, sharp, and gentle on the harvest — season after season.
A good harvest starts at the stem. Cut flush and short so no protruding stalk can puncture the fruit around it in the crate — the leading cause of wounds, rot, and rejected loads. Independent testing by the IVIA (Valencian Institute of Agricultural Research) confirms that harvesting with Manzana shears can reduce fruit wounds by up to 64%. Our Fruit Care models are shaped to adapt to the fruit's irregularities and pass over the skin without scratching it.
Sap and plant residue build up on the blades and around the pivot, slowing the cut and inviting rust. Wipe the blades down after use — a little oil dissolves sap and lifts it away. Dry them thoroughly, apply a drop of oil to the pivot, and store the clipper somewhere dry. A clean tool cuts cleaner and lasts far longer.
Our blades are forged from high-quality carbon steel and given a special heat treatment for a precise cut, less effort, and lasting durability. Touch up the edge with a fine stone when performance drops, always following the original blade geometry. When a blade finally wears out, replacements are available for every model — a Manzana tool is made to be renewed, not discarded.
Every crop cuts differently. Choose citrus shears for oranges and clementines, and dedicated models for apples, avocados, persimmons, and garlic — each with a blade shape matched to the fruit and the stem. For delicate skins, reach for a Fruit Care model; for larger operations, explore the Smart Harvest range. Not sure which fits your harvest? Our team will help you match the tool to the crop.
